Today it was announced that Tony Olson won the award for Male Songwriter of the Year at the 2021 International Singer Songwriter Awards!
Among nearly 15,000 songwriters from around the world, 84 were nominated for Songwriter of the Year. About 3,500 of the 15,000 are male songwriters from the United States. Fans were encouraged to vote, which narrowed the field to 15 finalists! Olson was thrilled to be 1 in 15!
According to a statement by Olson, this particular award covers writers from all genres of music and is based on a minimum of 5 songs from each individual writer. Olson has won a number of other awards in the past, but all have been for individual songs in specific categories. Therefore, this award is HUGE and very special.
A board of 54 international judges were assigned the task of reviewing each song one by one, individually and collectively from each songwriter. As Olson explained, this is not an award for one-hit-wonders! These songwriters are consistently producing incredible music that they have worked hard to create. “I am in with a bunch of exceptional writers. For me, it is a huge honor just to be mentioned in the same breath with some of these guys,” Olson stated on social media.
Olson is overjoyed with the news that he won Male Songwriter of the Year and wishes to thank everyone who has believed in his abilities and supported him along the way. Being from Weiser, Idaho, Olson grew up around music and it has always been a big part of his life. After a successful career in banking, and brain surgery in 2007, he was inspired to follow his life-long love of music.
The music industry is not easy but with the hard work and dedication to his passion, Olson has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. He can now add this incredible accomplishment to his list of many awards and accomplishments! You can follow his journey on Facebook or visit his website at www.tonyolsonmusic.com.
