The 100 Friends That Care group in Weiser gathered for another inspiring quarterly Awards Ceremony, recognizing the dedication of local nonprofits working to strengthen our community.
Three organizations presented their missions: Angel Wings Network, the Weiser Splash Pad, and the evening’s award recipient, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Washington County, Idaho.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – Weiser, Idaho
The Imagination Library is dedicated to sparking a lifelong love of reading by sending free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five. Funded by a partnership between Dolly Parton and local community supporters, this program ensures that children experience the joy of stories at an early age.

The Local Story
In October 2022, a Weiser mom took the lead in bringing the Imagination Library to Washington County. By February 2023, the very first book was mailed to a child in Weiser.
Fast forward less than two years: by September 2025, 316 children in Weiser, 71% of all children under age five, will be receiving books through this program.
How You Can Help
Spread the Word – Encourage families with children under five to sign up at ImaginationLibrary.com.
Support the Program – Help create a reliable funding source so no child misses out on their books. The program currently operates month to month through small fundraisers and donations, with occasional help from neighboring counties.
Why It Matters
There’s something magical about the moment a child crawls into a parent’s lap with a book. Reading together isn’t just about letters and words, it’s about love, safety, and connection. Each book from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library brings families closer, offering not just a story but a shared memory to cherish.

The 100 Friends That Care initiative unites Weiser and Washington County residents to support nonprofits making a difference. This group provides a vital lifeline for local organizations and a meaningful way for neighbors to come together in generosity.
Nonprofits interested in being considered for future awards must be affiliated with a 501(c)(3).
Community members interested in joining are warmly invited to participate.
