As far back as she can remember, Laurelle Jones has been cutting and arranging flowers that she has accumulated while walking neighborhoods as a youngster. Her love for flowers led her to her very first job at a flower shop where she worked for four years, “under one of the greatest florists I’ve ever known – still to this day,” she shared. Jones and family have lived in Weiser for about 5 years now. Her father grew up in Ontario, Oregon, where she has fond childhood memories of coming north for the summer from California to play on her grandparent’s farm with cousins. “I had always dreamt of living here and lucky for me, my husband shared that dream,” Jones shared.
Jones married, had children, and worked in the gym industry for many years as office management but the desire to create masterpieces was still her passion. She began designing flower arrangements out of her home about 8 years ago and has decided it is now time to branch out by opening a shop in town. Jones admits that she has been hesitant to open a store because Weiser is such as small community and there is an amazing florist shop here who has been established for a long time. “I do believe though that we both have our unique differences. My heart is in larger events, funerals, and weddings. I am also a certified wedding coordinator who rents out décor as well as various party rentals for events,” she explained.
Wildwood Flowers & Events will be opening June 15th at 207 E. 7th Street in the Weiser Business Center, Suite D. Jones is excited to also offer accessories for events such as candlesticks, buckets, baskets, barrels, plants and more. Other items will be featured as well, by local artists, such as handmade greeting cards by Randi Tucker, baby items and home décor by Ruby Ward with Indianhead Homestead, wood creations by Kaleb Grove, succulent arrangements, wreaths and likely much more as they get established.
Official opening date is June 15th, but days and hours of operation are still to be determined. Jones will have things made up throughout the week as she designs and processes flowers for events. Walk-ins will be welcome during open hours. The shop will offer delivery and scheduled pick up’s as well. “I get to work with some of the most beautiful things in all of creation and I absolutely love what I do. I also love that I can source flowers from local flower farmers and anybody growing anything beautiful in their yards!”
Laurelle Jones wishes to thank the community, friends and family for supporting this venture and helping her business grow.
