Mr. Rowley Presents 100th Prayer Blanket to Angel Wings Network, Inc

Retired Weiser educator Ralph Rowley offered to help assemble fleece prayer blankets back in 2019 after he had asked Angel Wings Network to perform a presentation for a Retired Educators group.  Prior to Mr. Rowley offering his help, the Washington County 4-H Club had been making and donating blankets as their community service projects throughout the year.  Unfortunately, when COVID-19 struck, many local groups and clubs were not able to meet regularly, which put a damper on service projects.

“When Ralph said he would help, we put him to work!  He has turned out to be a shining star,” shared executive director, Mabel Dobbs.  When the Angel Wings office was closed for 6 months due to COVID, volunteers continued working from home to meet the needs of their cancer patients. Mr. Rowley continued his important work completing one or more blankets per week and has done so for the past 18 months.  Just recently, Mr. Rowley presented his 100th finished fleece blanket to the volunteers at Angel Wings.  Each blanket is cut, tied, and presented to each new cancer member after volunteers pray over the blanket.  Each one is unique, special, and infused with love, prayer, and positive thoughts.  Many cancer members have shared that they cherish their blankets and even take it with them to treatment as a comfort and reminder that there is always someone praying for them.

“People like Ralph are the backbone of Angel Wings Network and the reason we can continue the support of cancer patients in our rural communities,” Dobbs stated.  The local nonprofit is eternally grateful to all of the volunteers, like Mr. Rowley, who so generously dedicate their spare time to help others in need.

For those unfamiliar with Angel Wings Network, Inc, they are a 501c3 nonprofit based in Weiser, Idaho who serve rural communities within a 70-mile radius of Weiser.  They strive to provide free services, resources, and support to cancer patients in these rural communities because of a lack of overall help and support.  For more information on this organization and how you can help or receive services, please reach out:
