Dear Parents, Patrons, and WSD Staff,
The 4-Day School Week Committee that was established at the request of the Board of Trustees this spring met on four occasions in April and spent time researching the advantages and disadvantages of the 4-day school schedule.
The committee will be providing an informational presentation for the community on the topic on Wednesday, May 4th at 7 pm in the auditorium at Weiser High School. At that time the committee will present findings from committee research, discuss potential school schedules including the traditional 5-day calendar that has already been approved by the Board of Trustees for the 22-23 school year, as well as 2-3 sample 4-day calendars in order to demonstrate the impact moving to a 4-day calendar would have on a school year in the Weiser School District.
You are invited to share questions that you hope the committee may be able to answer in advance of the presentation. You may post your questions using the following url: shorturl.at/diwK6
The committee hopes to be able to provide information to Weiser patrons – the informational presentation will be designed to provide just that, information. Please understand that the committee does not plan to make any recommendations or defend one schedule over another at this time. The information and documents that the committee has utilized and developed up to this point will be posted to the WSD website at www.weiserschools.org or a link to a folder containing the information will be made available prior to the May 4th informational presentation.
Please submit your questions before 5 pm on Tuesday, May 3rd using the link previously shown. You may also submit questions in writing to the WSD Office located at 925 Pioneer Road.
Expect the committee to launch another stakeholder survey following the May 4th informational presentation. The results of that survey will be shared with the Board of Trustees in order to help inform any decisions they may choose to make about the WSD calendar for 2022-23.
