Press release from Weiser Fire District Chief, Tim Atwood
Wednesday, May 31st at approximately 7:30am, Weiser area emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision on Hwy 95, South of Scheloske Rd. A Ram 3500 flatbed truck collided with a commercial fuel truck and trailer. The fuel truck came to a stop on the Southbound shoulder of the highway with the trailer flipped onto its side, in the roadside ditch. The Ram truck was also in the ditch on the West side of Hwy 95. The Ram was occupied by 3 people, two had exited the vehicle (*Correction*) and were taken to the ER by their employer, the third occupant was critically injured and trapped in the driver’s seat. Passersby were assisting the injured driver when emergency crews arrived. The driver of the fuel truck was uninjured in the crash.
Responders worked to stabilize the driver while extricating him from the driver’s compartment of the Ram. He received care on scene and was transported to a Boise hospital by Life Flight. The fuel truck and trailer had offloaded gasoline earlier this day and was only carrying residual fuel in the trailer. Woody’s Towing recovered the wrecked trailer and Ram truck and cleaned the debris from the Hwy.
Washington County Sheriff, Weiser PD, Weiser Ambulance, Weiser Fire District, Life Flight, Idaho State Police, Idaho Department of Transportation and Woody’s Towing were involved in the efforts on scene.
Hwy 95 was closed to traffic with a detour for several hours until the roadway was cleared.
