Kawa Taiko performed at America Global Village Festival 2024, in Lions Park, Ontario Oregon, hosted by the Greater Area Ontario Chamber Of Commerce. Kawa (which means “river” in Japanese) Taiko (which means “drum”) is a project of the Snake River Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League, operating as a non-profit club. The group likes to have fun and at the same time hopes to educate and entertain the public with a centuries’ old art form from Japan. The original founders were mothers who wanted to share this culture with their children, but currently the group is comprised of adults from all over the Treasure Valley who are very dedicated to preserving this craft.
