Weiser Lions’ Sock Drive

By Dorothy Evans

On these super cold days, it feels so good to put on a cozy, warm pair of socks.
Imagine, though, if your socks were threadbare, or worse yet, had a hole in them.
Something as simple as a new pair of socks can make a big difference in how you feel
as well as how you feel about yourself.

It’s been said that socks are one of the most needed, but least donated, items of
clothing to shelters. The Weiser Lions would like to turn that around.

Throughout the month of March, the Lions are sponsoring a community-wide sock drive to benefit Rose Advocates. Please find it in your heart to donate. The next time you’re in a store or shopping online, throw in a pair of women’s, teens’ or kids’ socks, or better yet, a pack of socks.

To make it easy for you, the Lions have placed collection drop-boxes at various locations around town. Please look for a box at: Artful Bons, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Columbia Bank, Community Church, Hair Co., Metropole Coffee Shop, St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weiser Memorial Hospital business office on State Street and the Weiser Senior Center. If, due to Covid, you’re concerned about going into a business, a box will be placed on the front porch at 1011 E. 2nd Street for your convenience.

The Weiser Lions wish to thank these churches and businesses for allowing a drop box at their location. A special thanks to Columbia Bank for letting the Lions maintain drop-boxes for used glasses and pop tops at their bank year-round. The used glasses are shipped to the less fortunate around the globe and the pop tops are donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Boise.

Together, we can make a difference. Let’s make March “Sock Month” and let those at Rose Advocates know that Weiser cares.
