Longtime Weiser Middle School Principal Tim Erhard is retiring at the end of the school year. He grew up in the port city of Eureka, California, which is in the northern part of the state. Later in life, he began his career in 1988 in Gonzales, California, and from there moved to Weiser, Idaho in 1993.
“A job opportunity came up in Weiser and I was offered a position as the government and history teacher,” he shared. Erhard also started coaching varsity girls’ basketball which he continued until about 2009.
In 2001, Erhard earned a masters in school counseling, which brought him to his next venture as the school counselor for Park School as well as Weiser High. In 2003, Erhard moved to the Weiser Middle School where he spent many years connecting with students, fellow staff, and helping students learn and grow as individuals. “It’s a great place to work. I’ve really enjoyed the people I’ve worked with,” he shared. Erhard enjoyed coaching girls’ basketball in the Middle School as well as the High School. He also coached football just about every year of his career.
After years of being a counselor, he went on to become the principal of Weiser Middle School in 2015. “It’s been a great ride! I am so grateful for the experiences and people I have worked with. The most rewarding aspect has been the relationships with students and the staff,” he commented.
This will not be the end of the career road for Erhard, however. “I am hoping to stay in the education field in some way,” he shared. He is not sure what will come next but as retirement draws closer, he anticipates coming into something he will enjoy.
