Arrow-Hearts 1st Campout of 2016

Greetings Arrow-Heart Team,
This is the illustrious Major reporting in with details of our first campout this year, here in Beautiful Idaho. Preparations for the campout went well. My two beautiful coaches aided me greatly in organizing and executing the overnight experience for our teens.  For several of our teens, this was their first overnight campout. We all met up at the Greenhouse and insured that everyone had a tent or sleeping bag for that night. Coach Mandy arrived with her RV and all the equipment was loaded in the RV. Coach Rachel was a little under the weather that evening, but was committed to being there to support the teens. We got a late start from the Greenhouse, but eventually made it on our way to the campsite in Midvale. The cheat grass was high at the site, but camping conditions were still good

The teens immediately identified their tent spots and began setting up for the night. A large Bon-fire was constructed and the teens began exploring the campsite and the low ropes course areas. Night time came quickly and the Coaches armed the teens with glow sticks both on the tents and bracelets and necklaces. The teens enjoyed the remainder of the evening playing games and at 11:00PM we all turned in. (RIGHT)!!!  The Coaches and I discussed the schedule for the next day and called it a night.

Teens awoke to the early morning sounds of the birds and the sound of the river flowing. Coaches put on the coffee and began preparing breakfast for the troops. Jr Mentor Seth and Anthony immediately slapped their fishing lines into the river in hopes of landing the “BIG ONE” ! Seth’s first fish catch was too small to keep and was quickly returned to the river by a concerned Chloe. Young Anthony soon followed their success by catching a whopping fish! Breakfast was served and then the teens were split into two teams.

Team One went with my Coaches on a Geo Cache hunt and Team Two joined me on a Gold Panning expedition along the river bank. A report of severe weather conditions in our area forced us to step-up our time table. We proceeded to split up after this and begin our search for Geo Cache and “GOLD”! Team One was successful in locating the two Geo Cache sites and left behind our business card with their names written on it. Team Two enjoyed getting their feet wet and dreaming about the car they were going to buy with their find!

Storm Clouds began to rapidly come in and the teams loaded up to return to Weiser. Overall assessment on the overnighter from the teens, was a thumbs up! Teens are looking forward to the McCall Campout and meeting their benefactor.
