Bill Morriss – Obituary

William Michael Morriss (Bill), of Weiser Idaho, was born May 3, 1949, in Boise Idaho. He passed away on September 23, 2021, in Nampa Idaho with his wife and children at his side.

He is the oldest of seven children born to William and Lily Morriss and graduated from Borah High School in Boise Idaho. Bill went on to serve a faithful mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas Mission.

He met his eternal companion, Maralynda Barraclough, in the Boise Institute choir in December of 1970. They were married on March 12, 1971, in the Logan Utah temple. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family. Bill loves his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He loves his Savior, Jesus Christ, and found great joy serving in the Boise and Meridian temples over the last five years.

Bill loves education. He was a lifelong student and is a master teacher. He earned two master’s degrees and was near completion of his dissertation for his doctorate degree. He was employed as the Special Education Director and Federal Programs Administrator for the Weiser School District. He loved helping the youth and enjoyed coaching youth sports. But most of all, he loved being a grandpa to his twenty-two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Maralynda, their eight children—Ethan (Monika), Aaron (Jannae), David (Michelle), Anna, Joseph, Jessica (Erik Kendall), Brion (Danielle), and Melanie (Marcus Johansen)—and his twenty-two grandchildren.

Flowers and cards can be sent to Thomason Funeral Home in Weiser Idaho. If you would like to send donations, please make them out to Maralynda Morriss.

A visitation will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00 am with Funeral Services to follow at 11:00 am at the LDS Church in Weiser. Interment to follow service at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
