Blessings and Memories in a Year of Turmoil and Hope – Angel Wings Network, Inc News

No one can argue that 2020-2021 are years that we will long remember. Cancer and Covid are two “C” words that all of us at Angel Wings Network would like to see go away, but that is not likely to happen.  Therefore, we will continue to be a cancer support resource for folks battling cancer in our rural areas and pray for all those affected by Covid.

For those who may not be familiar with our work, Angel Wings Network, Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Weiser, Idaho, that provides support and resources to cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, family, and loved ones who have been touched with cancer in the rural communities surrounding Weiser.  Our vision has always been to continue to grow each year with new and improved programs and services.

As Angel Wings begins its fourteenth year, our board of directors has put together a plan to enhance the existing programs we offer. We are additionally excited about what 2022 will provide to better help people on their cancer journey.  New programs bring new financial needs and that is where blessings abound.

Angel Wings received wonderful news in December of 2021. We were notified that we would be receiving a very generous donation from the Stephenson Family Foundation in memory of Ida Widener, who put up a valiant battle with cancer and in honor of her husband Jeff, who became a transport driver for Angel Wings Network in 2021. Jeff, Ida, and their family are what makes communities like Weiser, Idaho a special place to live.

Small non-profits struggle to raise the funds to do the work their mission statements call for. Most of the time they do not meet the criteria for monies from larger foundations and funding sources.  When we were notified that the Stephenson Foundation trusted and respected what Angel Wings Network does in our rural communities, we felt blessed beyond words. These funds will be used to expand a brand-new program as well as enhance our existing support services. Through the new program “Cancer Care Pals,” our volunteers and board of directors have committed to selecting one or more of our cancer patients to become their personal contact at Angel Wings. This will help us stay better apprised of their wants and needs.

Thank you, Stephenson Family Foundation, for supporting Angel Wings Network.  We promise not to disappoint you.  Thank you, Jeff and family, for believing in the work Angel Wings does.  It is our privilege to accept this wonderful donation in memory of your beautiful wife, mother and grandmother, Ida and in honor of Jeff.
