A dear friend of mine, Louise Barton, once told me that when we have an early Easter, we also have an early spring.  Her words seem to be holding true, at least so far this year.  The snow is melting fast and the wild birds we have been feeding have all but disappeared.  My chickens love being able to scratch in the earth and sunbathe; “Stretch”, the turkey, has been acting like he is playing with me when I go out to my car.  His call is different, and he runs and ducks and comes back again as if he were a little puppy playing.  Yes, spring is certainly in the air!
Before spring officially arrives, we are having a Idaho Baked Potato Bar fund raiser, on Friday, March 11th from 5:30 until 7 PM.  The McNally’s will be performing a variety of music for your listening pleasure and of course the dinner is a favorite: Baked potatoes, Chili con carne, sour cream, chives, olives, cilantro, guacamole, cheddar cheese and brownies for dessert.  Plan on joining us as we bid the long dreary days of winter adios, and welcome the arrival of daylight savings time on Sunday March 13th.  I look forward to seeing you here that evening.  That is just three short weeks away, I can hardly wait.
After I get my month end reports done, I will be working on creating new name place holders, for all paid members of the senior center.  If you haven’t already paid your dues, it’s time to stop thinking and start doing.  Membership is $10 per person for a calendar year.
I just received some tragic news, David Craig, one of our longtime members passed away in his sleep on Sunday night, February 21st.  I am just shocked.  He was at dinner on Friday evening, and we sang Happy Birthday to him as he had just turned 77 that very day.  RIP David, we will miss you…you were one of a kind.
Until next time, may you be blessed with peace and health.
