Celebrating over 100 Years of Life and Joyfulness

By Robyn Hernandez

Freida Borth, a resident at The Cottages of Weiser, has surpassed the century mark…plus 3!

On February 15th, 1921, Freida was the sixth child born to her parents in Port Angela’s, Washington. Three children after her would expand the family who traveled all across the US as farmers, before settling in Fruitland Idaho when Freida was 7. At 19, Freida married her first husband in Ontario, Oregon. During this marriage, Freida and her husband moved to Weiser on 50 acres where they not only farmed and ranched, but hand built their home. After the unexpected passing of her husband, Freida found love twice again. Both times, Freida was left a widow, but she did not let that prevent her from finding happiness and adventure. Freida leased her ranch acreage and traveled with her best friend, exploring 6 European countries in 17 days and indulging on cruise ships.

When Freida was in town, she volunteered for the Friends of The Weiser Memorial Hospital and Friends of the Library. She was a member of the Lady’s Club, where she played first baseman on their baseball team and is also known as an avid golfer and bowler, with many trophies and ribbons from her skill. Freida was a devoted attendee of the Lutheran Church were she played the accordion, keyboard, and sang in the choir.

In 2011, Freida sold her house in town and chose to make the Cottages her home. There, she continues to keep a smile on her face while surrounded by friends and visiting family.

If you know Freida and would like to give her birthday wishes, stop by The Cottages of Weiser at noon for her 103rd Birthday celebration on February 15th 2024

Happy Birthday Freida!
