Washington County Planning and Zoning currently has an opening on its nine person panel. Anyone interested in serving is encouraged to submit their name for consideration. Duties of the Planning and Zoning Commission include advising the County Commissioners on the following:
Updating the comprehensive plan.
Granting variances, zone changes and special use permits.
Updating and amending land use, zoning and building ordinances.
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets for regular meetings once a month, on the third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Other “special” meetings are scheduled as needed. Member requirements are, you must be a five year resident of the County and you must remain a resident while serving. Ability to comprehend Planning & Zoning code is important for this position.
