Deadline to Apply For Property Tax Reduction Program & Veteran’s property Tax Benefit is April 18th

Washington County, ID – Washington County Assessor Debbie Moxley-Potter is encouraging residents who qualify for property tax benefits under the Property Tax Reduction Program (Circuit Breaker) and Veteran’s Property Tax Benefit to hurry up and apply before the April 18 deadline.

Due to recent changes in legislation, the income limit for the Property Tax Reduction (Circuit Breaker) tax credit program has increased to $37,000 from $33,870 in 2022. In addition, the property valuation cap has been increased to the greater of $400,000 or 200% of the median assessed value for properties receiving the homeowner’s exemption.

Due to these changes, the Assessor’s Office urges property owners who were trimmed off the program in 2022 to reapply for 2023. Property owners whose annual income less qualifying medical expenses is at or below $37,000 are also encouraged to apply for the Property Tax Reduction program.

For questions, please come into the assessor’s office in the courthouse or motor vehicle office. Call 208-414-2000, option #4 or 208-414-2530.
