Finding Hope & Navigating the Cancer Journey: Join Angel Wings Network Book Club

As part of the efforts to expand their services and programs in 2022, Angel Wings Network, Inc has started the Cancer Care Pals Book Club.  But this isn’t just any group where you read together and answer questions.  This gathering of people is made up of cancer survivors, loved ones, volunteers, people just starting their cancer journey, and some who have lost someone to cancer.

Receiving a cancer diagnosis is shocking and overwhelming.  You, or your loved one, are suddenly faced with the reality of your own mortality and it can be difficult to navigate the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis.  No matter what stage of the cancer journey you are in, this is a book group that can offer encouragement, hope, and compassion.  If you have questions or simply want to observe, you are welcome to join.

“Cancer – Now What?” is the selected book and it comes highly recommended by patients, physicians, and volunteers who have read through it.  It is written in a way that is easy to read, with short chapters, and full of information that will help you navigate the many ups and downs of the cancer journey.  The book will be provided for you.

The goal of this book club, and the goal of the book, is to help those with cancer and their loved ones address all aspects of the journey:  medical, emotional, spiritual, etc.  Facilitator Joy Beilenberg guides the group through each chapter with thought provoking questions and opportunities to share you own stories or ask questions.  Everyone has their own personal or professional experience to share.

What is so great about this book club is that it also feels like a support group.  You will be among friends who can relate to your journey.  The atmosphere is relaxed and comforting.  Joy Beilenberg does a fantastic job facilitating meetings and guiding participants through each chapter.

The Cancer Care Pals Book Club meets every Tuesday at 4pm at the Weiser Christian Church fellowship hall for 8 weeks.  A big thank you to Pastor Lyndon Haines for allowing the use of the space. The last meeting for this particular book will be April 5th. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN!  Beverages and snacks are provided.  No commitment necessary!  Join for one meeting or join every week!  You do not have to be a current member of Angel Wings Network, Inc.  Masks and hand sanitizer is provided if you wish to use them. If you have any questions about the book club or about Angel Wings Network in general, please call the office at 208-414-9464.
