Friends of Weiser Memorial Hospital support Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation through a generous donation

Weiser, ID – March 21, 2024:     The Friends of Weiser Memorial Hospital, at their monthly luncheon meeting on March 11, presented a check for $4,000 to the Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation. The money is the first in support of the WMH Foundation’s efforts toward building on to the WMH Surgical & Specialty Clinic to provide more space for patients, specialists, surgeons, and staff.

WMH Surgical & Specialty Clinic is currently near space capacity. Other visiting specialists are enforcing exclusive space requirements, and our hospital surgeons are unable to see patients when visiting specialists are in-house due to a lack of physical space. This project seeks to double the footprint of WMH’s Surgical & Specialty Clinic from 1,820 square feet to 3,640 square feet and enable us to serve additional patients close to home. Current specialized services include Orthopedic Care/Surgery, General Surgery, Cardiology, Podiatry, and Sleep Studies.

WMH Foundation must raise $648,300 towards the project and 40% of the proposed cost must be secured or committed by the 4th Quarter of 2024 to be eligible for a $450,000 grant from MJ Murdock Charitable Trust. As of January 23, 2024, we have secured $54,000 in funding from The Friends of the Hospital and Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation.

This expansion will allow us to expand and increase patient access to our current services. The addition will also provide the opportunity to make positive changes to the existing clinic, which include an ADA public restroom accessible from the waiting area, staff workspaces near the office areas — with less crossover in the narrow hallway, and improved clinic access, allowing multiple providers to serve patients on the same day.

Both the Friends of WMH and the WMH Foundation were formed in the 1980’s to help support the hospital. The Friends are a volunteer group who also raise funds for hospital needs, baby items, and comfort kits. The Foundation is the 501c3 nonprofit benefiting the hospital through their many fundraising efforts throughout the year such as the Festival of Trees, Year End Giving, Idaho Gives, and others. More information about both groups can be found at weisermemorialhospital.org.
