HAPPENINGS at HAAS HALL…

Author:  Aleta Luhmann
On the west side of town, Weiser is home to a community gem!

The Haas community hall, located at the corner of Haas and Jonathan Roads, is a grand old lady that will soon be celebrating its’ Centennial in 2023.  Started as a social club in the early 1900s, it has been the center of many great activities over the years, including but not limited to:  dances, community dinners, celebrations of life, family reunions, and most recently, Hen Parties.

The Haas Hall is now enjoying a rebirth, thanks to a large infusion of new members of the Haas Ladies Club.  All those years ago the club was founded to build friendships among the ladies out on the flats.  It grew into a club that supported the community through service projects and providing a building to gather.  Many happy memories have been made at the hall, and the Haas Ladies Club is looking forward to reviving the hall into a thriving part of Weiser and surrounding communities, making more happy memories.

After nearly 100 years, not surprisingly, the hall is in need of some repair and restoration to continue to be an asset to our community.  The Haas Ladies Club has planned varied fundraisers that will take place throughout the year to fund the restoration of Haas Hall and public service projects.  The hall, as is, is a lovely gem with the character  and charm of a historic country farm building, with a working kitchen and sound system.  The hall is available for use with a set donation that goes directly to the hall and service projects.  Need a place for a baby shower, family get-together, meeting, party?   The Haas Hall can meet your needs, and more information is available upon request.

We are excited to announce that our first fundraising event will be a huge RUMMAGE SALE at the hall!  This will be a two-day event  held on June 25th and 26th, a Friday and Saturday, rain or shine!  We will be open both days from  8 A.M.  –  3 P.M.  In addition to all the treasures to be found, snacks and drinks will be offered by the members of the Haqas Ladies Club.  You don’t want to miss Sue Harmon’s cinnamon rolls which have always been a hit or pieces of Killer Karrot Kake, donated by “Butter and Berries”.

This will be our first fundraiser for the renovation of the hall.  Please help us make it a huge success!  Donations of rummage sale items (please no appliances or electronics) will be happily accepted.  These may be dropped off at the hall on June 18th from 10A.M.  –  4P.M., 694 Jonathan Road.   We thank you in advance for your generosity.  We hope to see you there!
