Idaho Power PSPS Safety Alert has Been Issued for Our Surrounding Communities

Wednesday, July 24th Idaho Power issued a Public Safety Power Shut off (PSPS)  Safety Alert to all of their customers in South West Idaho. Due to extreme weather conditions forecasted for today, July 24th, Idaho Power is tracking a storm that potentially could result in power shut offs in our area. These potential shut offs are to decrease the risk of wildfires.

This could potentially affect the City of Weiser. We spoke with Mike Campbell, Weiser City Public Works Director, and he shared that even though the city purchase’s its power from another company they do use the transmission lines form Idaho Power to receive that power. The estimated time for the storm is between 5 and 10pm tonight. Idaho Power stated that if there are any PSPS the times and location will vary based on the weather conditions.

Again this is only an alert to be aware of the possibility of an emergency shut off , NOT a guaranteed shut off. You can get up to date information on PSPS at  idahopower.com/psps or call 1-800-488-6151.  For outage tips Idaho Power shared the following link: idahopower.com/outagetips
