Payette Summer School Program holds Mock Chamber of Commerce

PAYETTE – Wednesday, July 17th, Payette Schools held a Junior Chamber of Commerce, where Summer School students worked on creating their own business within the Treasure Valley.

Payette is home to Teachers for America’s (TFA). Every summer they help teach the summer program at Payette to learn and get a feeling of what it’s like before they step into the teaching atmosphere in the fall. Payette currently has a 6-Year Partnership that started back in 2022. During their five weeks in Payette’s program, they work with local teachers in classrooms to gain in-state student teaching experience. In exchange, students benefit from lower student-teacher ratios in the classroom and Payette teachers acquire mentorship experience.

This summer, the main focus was Entrepreneurship, where students worked on creating businesses in different classrooms. In one room was a room full of lemonade and drink businesses, and another was science/tech related. Students even went about creating business cards and custom t-shirts with their brand logo on it.
