Idaho Republicans Special Meeting

By Chairman Kirk Chandler

Chairwoman Dorothy Moon called a special meeting to be held on July 29th in Boise at the Hillcrest Country Club. The reason for the meeting was the fill the National committeeman position.

Washington County was represented at the meeting by Cathy Kaech, committee woman and Kirk Chandler, Chairman of the county committee.

Bryan Smith of Bonnieville county was the only person who ran for the position. He will be representing the State of Idaho at the National Republican meetings. Bryan has been active in the Idaho GOP for many years and has served in various capacities on the Bonnieville county central committee. Bryan brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences with him to fill this position for the State GOP. His first meeting will be the RNC summer meeting in August. It will be in Milwaukee.

The process to fill the position was to have two nomination speakers, Nina Beesley and Dale Mortimer and then Bryan addressed us. Because there was not another nomination he was put in the position.

Dorothy Moon also took some time to review the ongoing preparation for the presidential caucus that will be held March 2nd 2024. This will be an important event not only for the State of Idaho, but also Washington County. There has been a lot of concern about how we are going to have a vote on who will be the presidential candidate on the ballot on November 2024. This will be our opportunity to have our voices heard. Put March 2nd on your calendar. It is going to be a one vote event. More information will be coming about how, where and what we need to do and know to participate in the caucus. In Washington county it will be conducted by the Washington County Central Committee precint members under the direction of the State GOP. Thank you to those that represented our county at this State GOP Special Meeting.
