Once Again Starting Their Engines and Hitting the Tuff Truck Arena

Back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s a few men from the Weiser area began their adventure into Tuff Trucking. Daniel Field, Marty Rasmussen and Steve Wright were among those men. They often would perform and race in front of spectators during Monster Truck shows as the halftime entertainment. As it often does, responsibilities and life interrupted their hobby of Tuff Trucking and they had to put the fun on hold. This summer a few of them were able to once again start their engines and hit the Tuff Truck arena. One of this years races was held this July in Emmett, Idaho at the Gem County Fairgrounds.

Believe Promotions hosted an event for Live A Little Productions for their Monster Truck Insanity Tour in Emmett and invited the guys to race their rigs during the Tuff Truck portion of the show. The guys were in for a treat as they were racing against teams from back in the day that they had raced against, Tabitha and Jeromy Pritchard from Pritchard Racing out of Manti, Utah and Emmett locals Gary and Stefen Resinkin. While Field did not race, as he was part of the administration of the event, Rasmussen and Wright did race against their old friends and rivals. The two night event brought back the fun and excitement for the guys and a renewed commitment to work on their trucks in preparation for next year’s Tuff Truck season.

What is Tuff Truck Racing?

Tuff Truck Racing is an adrenaline-fueled motorsport that combines off-roading, extreme driving skills, and powerful trucks. This thrilling racing discipline has gained immense popularity among off-road enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies around the world. It involves racing specially designed trucks in an indoor or enclosed arena, providing spectators with an up-close and exhilarating experience. Over the years it has gone by many names such as Tough Truck Racing, Arena Truck Racing and Street Warrior Races.

It was conceptualized by a group of motorsport enthusiasts who wanted to create a unique racing experience. With the introduction of purpose-built trucks and specialized arenas, arena truck racing quickly gained traction as a thrilling motorsport. Tuff Truck Racing events typically take place on custom-built off-road tracks and courses, designed to test the skill and endurance of both drivers and their machines.

Although in many races in the beginning had the philosophy of ,”Run what you brung”, nowadays these trucks are specially designed for this intense form of motorsport. These trucks are smaller than traditional monster trucks but are specially modified trucks capable of handling the rigorous demands of the sport. These vehicles are typically equipped with aftermarket suspension systems, reinforced chassis, and powerful engines. The trucks’ high ground clearance and aggressive off-road tires provide the necessary traction and maneuverability to conquer the challenging terrain.

Tuff Truck racing often takes place in enclosed arenas, often on dirt or clay tracks. These purpose-built arenas are designed to optimize spectator experience, with close-up views of the action, intense sound effects, and a vibrant atmosphere. The tracks themselves are challenging, ranging from tight turns to high jumps, testing the skills of the drivers and providing continuous excitement for the audience.

With local organizations, such as Believe Promotions, sponsoring Tuff Truck races, it looks like there might be more opportunity for Tuff Truck fans to watch these races in our local area in the future.
