Ontario Oregon Chamber Of Commerce Man of the Year Award

Ontario Oregon Chamber Of Commerce Man of the Year Award, which recognizes a community members contributions and commitment to the community in which they live, was awarded to Ken Hart in part for his ability to lead, inspire change, and demonstrate a passion for creating a lasting impact beyond expectations.

Hart met his wife, Sheila, in Portland, Oregon many years ago. The two frequently visited Ontario where Sheila grew up and where her parents reside. The couple thought about how nice it would be to live in the same area to raise their children, so they moved with their 3 children, and he took a job opportunity at TVCC where he stayed for almost 3 years. Now with 4 children, the Harts quickly settled in and called Ontario their home. Hart worked as the CFO for Ryan Gentry, family-owned dealership, in 2007. In this position, he learned a lot about the community, local issues, and the importance of shopping locally to encourage a thriving community.

With an educational background in accounting, it didn’t take long for his professional resume to expand into many different areas. Hart is currently in his second term as Ontario City Councilor, he was appointed as chairman of the Treasure Valley Community College Board of Education, and the CEO at Valley Family Health Care.

Hart is known for his dedication to programs that benefit local students, young adults, and those in poverty. The Ontario Promise is one of the programs Hart is most proud of, which is a funding program to help Ontario students graduate, find a career path and local jobs for those who do not want to go to college. He has also been heavily involved as a member of the Poverty to Prosperity Board, helping to maximize critical resources and addressing the causes and needs of the poverty population.

“I am humbled,” stated Hart when asked how he felt about being awarded Man of the Year. “It takes a lot of people to contribute their time to these programs and projects. I am one of many.”

Since joining Valley Family Health Care as the Chief Executive Officer in August of 2020, he stated that he is proud of his experience that has led him to this point, he is humbled by those who have taught him along the way, and he is thankful for those who have challenged him and cheered him on. Hart is a big advocate for volunteering and contributing to local causes as he has demonstrated with his own accomplishments.
