Payette High School’s Revamping Steve’s Hometown into Cutting-Edge CTE Facility

The Payette School District purchased the former Steve’s Hometown Motors Building in an effort to modernize career and technical education (CTE) and bring education closer to students.

Although the superintendent Dr. Glen Croft, alongside Assistant Superintendent Marci Holcomb, unveiled this ambitious plan on how it could revolutionize vocational training within the district, acquisition is another way of calling for more diversity in student paths to success as provided by lease-to-purchase agreement approved by the Board of Trustees.

The building is meant to begin renovations next fall 2024 with its completion anticipated by fall 2025 hence the new CTE center will be equipped with modern facilities that prepares workers for a changing job market.

The Floor Plan Proposed by PSD

Funding for this transformative project stems from House Bill 521, allocating resources specifically for school facility acquisition and improvements. This financial support underscores the state’s recognition of the importance of CTE in preparing students for a competitive workforce.

The coming together of current programs—Agricultural Science, Culinary, and Welding, for example—will foster even more student and staff creativity and collaboration. The Payette School District hopes to establish a dynamic learning environment that encourages hands-on discovery and skill development by consolidating these activities at the new location.

Community expectation is growing as the district finalizes floor plans and gets ready for the planned summer grand launch. With classes starting in the new location in the 2025–2026 academic year, Payette School District is prepared to raise the bar for CTE success and give students the tools they need to succeed in a world that is constantly changing.
