DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an association of marketing students that encourages the development of business and leadership skills through academic conferences and competitions.
DECA’s state competition is called SCDC (State Career Development Conference) and is held every February usually at the Nampa Civic Center.  This year 2023, there were 363 students and advisors, 60 judges plus approximately 10 volunteers who participated!  The high schools which competed were from all over Idaho including: Timberline, Boise HS, Capital, Middleton, North Star Charter, Jerome, Twin Falls, South Fremont, Payette, Weiser, Lake City, Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Lewiston.
The Adviser Bernie Weldon said that “All of these students were incredibly professional throughout the entire experience.  Whether they were in front of a judge or waiting for their time slot, they represented themselves, Weiser High School and the Weiser community in an outstanding and commendable manner!  None of them backed down from a very intimidating situation, and they all stepped up to do their best.  They remained incredibly teachable/coachable throughout the competition.  These students will come out of this experience with confidence that doing difficult things will make them stronger.”
