Strong Families, Strong Students Program

11/3/20
Dear Families,
If you are the parent or guardian of a student in the Weiser School District, then your child’s education has been impacted by COVID-19.

Idaho Governor Brad Little recently committed $50 million of Idaho’s Coronavirus Relief Funds to support families and students whose education has been impacted by COVID-19. The purpose of the Strong Families, Strong Students program is to provide funding for families to help purchase education goods and services their children need due to the impact of COVID.

Eligible families can:
 Receive a credit for $1500 per child or up to $3500 per family.
 Use their funds to purchase computers and technology, pay for internet access, purchase qualifying instructional materials, pay for courses, pay for tutoring services, and more.
 Seek reimbursement for eligible education expenses paid for between March 1, 2020 and December 30, 2020.

Apply online at www.strongfamilies.idaho.gov
Select the “Apply Now” tab

You will need the following in order to apply:
 Evidence of your child’s enrollment in school (copy of a current report card, enrollment verification from your child’s school, or other)
 Copy of your 2019 Tax Return
If you qualify, money will be deposited into a “digital wallet” which you can access to pay for expenses through the remainder of the current school year.

NEW: The State Board of Education just announced Monday that the enrollment deadline for families has been moved up from December 8th to this Friday, November 6th at 5:00 pm. Funds will be awarded first on economic need and then on a first come first serve basis. Funds must be allocated to families no later
than December 31, 2020. Families have until June 30, 2021 to spend their money. DON’T LET THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY PASS YOU BY. APPLY NOW!

Contact your child’s school for a copy of their official enrollment information. If you need help completing the application, please contact the State Board of Education at 844-649-2921.

Wade Wilson, Superintendent
