The Imagination Station of The Woodshed

By Brooke Curtiss

Garrick Woods is a Weiser native as many members of his family are. He has spent his entire life taking apart and rebuilding mechanical items or building something completely different from what he took apart. Imagination like this is rare and special.

Garrick says his biggest and best accomplishment, as far as builds, is his bunk bed turned go kart. Yes, you read that correctly. Garrick took a bunk bed and converted it to a go kart. He drives it around town, to car shows, and even went through a car wash once. He states the car wash he “wouldn’t recommend” but otherwise, this invention has been a lot of fun to share with
others.

He created a You Tube channel about a year ago called “The Woodshed” inspired by his last name that has about 1200 followers. On his channel he “builds, destroys and repeats” with several original and funky projects from “granny scooters” to his bunkbed. In one video, he meets the reaction of a police officer while driving his bunk bed. While in another video he races a Tesla with his bunk bed. You will of course need to watch to see the results of that race. Garrick is also on Instagram and Tik Tok with several million views on a handful of his videos.

Garrick says he has always been interested in building unusual and weird stuff. Since he was a kid, he would take apart all kinds of things and rebuild them into something new. He says, “I love to use my imagination and no one else is going to do it, so I will” and it certainly shows in all his videos.

After graduating from Weiser High School in 2013, Garrick decided that he wanted to pursue a career in creating. He attended Utah Valley University and graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering. After graduating, Garrick came back home to Weiser, continued building his gadgets and projects and has gone to work for Woodgrain, implementing robotic integration in their systems.
Garrick would love to see everyone like his pages and follow his creations.
