Veterans Day observance, the Weiser School District

November 202

In a Veterans Day observance, the Weiser School District gathered to honor and remember the sacrifices of military personnel during an assembly on November 9th, 2023.

The event commenced with Superintendent Kenneth Dewlen, Lieutenant Colonel, US Air Force, and Major Stephen Fenske, US Air Force & Army National Guard, setting the tone for the day. Their presence added a notable military perspective to the proceedings.

Lieutenant Colonel Eric Grunke, United States Marine Corps, shared insights on heroism, providing a powerful narrative on the experiences of those who have served. His words resonated with attendees, highlighting the depth of sacrifice that comes with military service and that each student could be a hero also.

A heartfelt moment of remembrance was dedicated to PFC Kenneth Webb, a Korean War Veteran. The assembly paid homage to Webb’s service, ensuring that his legacy remains a vital part of the community’s collective memory.

The honor guard conducted a flag ceremony, a tribute that culminated in the presentation of the flag to the family of PFC Kenneth Webb. This gesture symbolized the district’s gratitude and respect for the sacrifices made by veterans and their families.

Adding a musical touch to the commemoration, the Weiser High School Choir sang the National Anthem. The Weiser High School Band, known as “Proud Sound,” played the United States Armed Forces Medley, encapsulating the spirit of each military branch.

The assembly provided a meaningful opportunity for the community to come together, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the dedication of those who have served in the armed forces. The Weiser School District’s Veterans Day Observance not only honored the past but also instilled a sense of pride and unity within the present generation.
