Weiser, ID – June 2023:
The first MAGNETOM Free.Max MRI machine in the Pacific Northwest, and the first unit of its kind in the US is now part of the Weiser Memorial Hospital (WMH) Medical Imaging Department. This exciting new addition boasts the largest opening of any MRI machine available, along with enhanced imaging options.
“An MRI can be a critical tool in diagnosis,” commented WMH CEO Steve Hale. “We have invested in this particular machine because of it’s state of the art imaging, along with the comfort it will offer to our patients because of the larger opening.”
“We are proud to provide our communities with advanced medical imaging right here, close to home,” said Medical Imaging Manager, Noa Towner. “Our hospital continues to look for the best options for our patients and this new MRI is definitely that. It will be a critical tool in diagnosis, but more importantly it will accommodate patients and create a more comfortable imaging experience.”
MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging. MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to identify different body tissue and differentiate individual anatomy. This type of imaging can be very helpful in diagnosing injuries or fractures, or in identifying disease in its earliest stages.
The MAGNETOM Free.Max is a stand-alone unit encompassing the MRI machine, space for imaging staff, and patient area. The opening is 80cm vs standard 50-60cm which breaks barriers in patient comfort and accessibility – making the experience a realistic option for claustrophobic, anxious, and larger-framed patients.
