Weiser River Trail Wagon Train Event 2024

Article and Video by: Amber Dewey

The Weiser River Trail Wagon Train is an amazing event. We begin our 60 mile journey in Weiser and the fun starts immediately when we see familiar faces and share our excitement for the upcoming days. The first 15 miles we stop at Primitive Camp for the night. We are often greeted by the resident bald eagle as we arrive. It’s a beautiful sight! The next morning we gather around the cook tent for a delicious breakfast (Bob and his crew make THE BEST breakfast sandwiches!) then we pack up and head out for another 15 miles down the trail. The scenery is breathtaking and the ride is peaceful. Midvale is our next stop.

We camp in the park and have access to several amenities including a nice, hot shower. The kids enjoy playing at the park and swimming at the pool when it is open. In the evening we have a wonderful catered meal and raffle off some fun prizes. This year, the big item was a hand crafted knife made from a farrier rasp. It is always a fun time! The next morning we have another delicious meal from the cook tent and head off for the 20 mile ride to Goodrich.

We camp one more night there and enjoy visiting the old school house built in 1910, cooling off down by the creek, eating dinner, and chatting around the fire. The next morning, we set off for the last 10 miles. It is another beautiful but bittersweet ride knowing our adventure is coming to an end. We arrive in Council to pack up one more time to head home. We say our goodbyes and always have plans to come back again next year. We love this beautiful trail and the friends we make along the way!
