Weiser Superintendent Wade Wilson Retires

Monday, February 13th during the executive session of the Weiser School District monthly meeting, Superintendent Wade Wilson announced that he will be retiring from the school district. Wilson has worked for the Weiser School District for the last thirty-three years. He shared that teaching in Weiser was the first job he obtained right after college, “Weiser was my first job out of college in the fall of 1990. Although I felt it would be a short stint here, Weiser felt like home immediately. I have loved working for the Weiser School District and have not felt a desire to work anywhere else.”

Wilson began his career teaching at Weiser High School where he spent eleven years until he made the move to Principal at Pioneer School. Wilson shared, “Going from Weiser High School to Pioneer School was quite a change and culture shock. I really did not realize how much I would love what I did at that level.” Wilson spent eighteen years at Pioneer before he became the school district Superintendent, where he has served for the last four years. Wilson shared that he gained different things from each position stating, “Each of those positions brought something different. Some different levels of joy in my work.”

When looking at his big picture, both in his personal life and career, Wilson shared that now “feels like the right time” to move on. “I have no regrets. The people I work with at the district office, the administration team, staff and patrons of Weiser are second to nobody. They just make it easy for people to want to be a part of the school district and the community.”

Currently Wilson does not have any plans after his retirement, but wanted to share his gratitude. He stated, “I would like to say thank you to the school boards, including the current board, that have provided support and encouragement during my tenure. And to really all of the people I have had the pleasure of working with and working for.”
