The Weiser Area Chamber of Commerce recently stepped away from running the Vendome Event Center. Several years ago the Chamber and the City made an agreement that the Chamber would oversee the daily operations of the city’s Vendome in order to have use of the office space in the front of the Center.
Being such a unique and wonderful space in the area, the Vendome has seen an increase in use over the last few years and the daily operations has made it difficult for the Chamber to both run the Vendome and keep up with Chamber operations. With the increased use it became apparent to the Chamber Director and the Board that they would no longer be able to run the Vendome’s daily operations and serve the community in the capacity in which they want the Chamber to serve. “The Vendome was a wonderful location for the Chamber of Commerce, but as we focus more on the local businesses, we feel it’s better if we are out of the office and come into each business several times a year to find ways to better serve our community,” shared Weiser Chamber Director Alex Chavarria.
Overall the changes will be a benefit to the community. The Weiser Recreation Department will be moving into the office space and will oversee the Vendomes operation on a full time basis and that will leave the Weiser Chamber in a position to expand and serve the community better. With this new change the Board and current Director are looking to hire a new Director to oversee the Chamber operations. They want their Director to be more able to be in the public and focus their time on assessing the needs of their members and the community.
