The Weiser Chamber of Commerce has selected the Grand Marshal for this year’s parade. We are excited to introduce long-time Weiser residents Bruce and Cindy Campbell as the 2023 Grand Marshals!
Each year, the parade committee looks for people who give a lot of their time and energy to the community and particularly those who work behind the scenes to make a difference. The Campbell’s have been heavily involved in the NOTFC since about 1976. Mr. Campbell is a retired high school teacher who has served on the NOTFC board since 1978. Mrs. Campbell is also a retired teacher and school principal. She has also served on the board since 1978.
Their dedication to the Weiser community has been driven by their love for the people and the friendships they have made over the last 47 years. When asked how she feels about being named as a person of honor in the parade, Mrs. Campbell paused and said, “Oh goodness. I feel proud. And I feel humbled because there are so many people who help make these events happen.” The announcement was a total surprise but when the Campbell’s were asked to come down to the Chamber office together, they had a sneaking suspicion that something was up.
Few may remember but Cindy and Bruce were named Grand Marshal’s 37 years ago! Back in 1986, Mrs. Campbell jokingly, and slightly embarrassed by being selected, said that if someone found them a horse and buggy to ride in, they’d do the parade. And by golly, a horse and buggy were found!
We thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell, for your many years of serving the Weiser community in so many different ways!
