Copilot Teen Q&A: How Do I Deal With Trauma?

ByIuri Melo

My amazing friend, trauma can be a difficult and heartbreaking thing to experience. But I’m here to tell you that no matter what you’re going through, you have the power to overcome it. You have the strength, courage, and resilience to come out the other side of it and I want to help you do that.

The first thing you need to understand is that talking about your trauma is incredibly important. It can be one of the most difficult and intimidating things to do, but it is one of the most powerful things you can do on the road to recovery. It’s important to find a safe place to express your trauma, and it’s okay to feel embarrassed, ashamed, or even sad when you do. Talking about it can help you put the puzzle pieces of your traumatic experience together and begin to control it.

The second thing you need to do is to learn some skills to help you manage the thoughts and feelings associated with trauma. Trauma can be overwhelming and can cause you to feel out of control. It’s important to remember that your brain is a survival mechanism and it remembers these moments of intense fear and harm. It’s natural for your brain to go into Fight, Flight, or Freeze mode, but it’s important to learn to Focus instead. This will help you to regain control over your life, your thinking, and your feelings.

The third and final thing you need to do is to keep growing. It’s important to remember that you can grow even when you are still feeling the negative consequences of your trauma. It’s okay to feel scared or upset, but try to focus on the positive and use it as motivation to move forward. There are many tools available to help you on your journey, from therapy and counseling to meditation and mindfulness. There is help out there for you, so don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for it.

My friend, you have the strength and courage to overcome your trauma. It won’t be easy, but if you take the right steps, you can get through this. Talk about it, learn skills to manage it, and keep growing. You can do this. Best of luck to you my friend.
