To get some clarification on rumors going around about the Farmers Supply Cooperative being closed, we spoke with spokesperson Vivian Sheffield. Talk was circulating on social media about the business closing due to no staff willing or able to work. So, what is the scoop?
Sheffield explained that the Farmers Supply Co-op and Farmers Café was TEMPORARILY closed yesterday, August 25th and will be closed today, August 26th. Good news is that they will be open again for business on Friday, August 27th.
The nationwide worker shortage in the U.S. is a serious issue, as most of you know, and it only seems to be getting worse. Every type of business seems to be affected by this crisis, including our local businesses here in Weiser. Sheffield shared that the Co-op and Café is lacking in employees and people coming in to apply for positions. With current staff working to pick up the slack, it becomes an even bigger issue when staff have personal issues or health concerns that require time off.
With respect to the privacy of the staff, the business will be closed for the reason of insufficient staffing. While they are closed, the building will be cleaned, thoroughly sanitized, and ready to re-open on Friday. Sheffield assured us that they are doing everything they can to ensure that the Co-op and Café remain open, but they also must look after their employees’ health first.
If you or someone you know is looking for employment, give them a call to schedule an interview at 208-549-0654 or stop in during business hours to pick up an application.
Staff of Farmers Supply Cooperative and Farmers Café wish to thank the community for the support and patience, and they look forward to reopening on Friday, August 27th, 2021.
