Franklin Daniel Stirm

February 19th, 1933 – December 9th, 2019

Franklin Daniel Stirm, 86, of Weiser, Idaho passed away at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho on Monday, December 9, 2019.

Frank was born February 19, 1933 in Ontario, Oregon, the son of William and Emma Stirm.  He had four brothers and two sisters who preceded him in death.  He is survived by two brothers, Joseph Stirm and Robert Stirm.

Frank spent his childhood in Fruitland, Idaho where he started school.  The family then purchased a cattle ranch in Crane Creek, Idaho where he went on to attend Crane Creek School through the eighth grade.  (Of note, one of his teachers Elizabeth Cada , age 101 still lives locally). 

At the age of 19, he was drafted  in the Army and served stateside during the Korean War.  After an honorable discharge, he returned to the Weiser area where he met his future wife, June Yvonne Emert.  They were married on February 28, 1956.  

Frank moved his new family to the mill town of Kinzu, Oregon followed by Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Blanding, Utah and ultimately purchased a dairy farm in Weiser along Mann Creek.  It is there that he became a well known and respected member of the farming and ranching community.  

He served two terms as Washington County Commissioner, and was a past Exalted Ruler with the Weiser Elks Lodge.  He was an avid card player; specifically pinochle and poker.  

Frank is survived by his wife, June.  He and June raised 6 children.  Son Dan (Heidi), son Dean (Stephanie), daughter Darcy, son Jim (Anita), daughter Janice (Marvin), daughter Anna.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00am at the Weiser Christian Church.  Donations in Frank’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
