Bernice Marie “Bunny” Griffith

September 9th, 1940 – November 18th, 2019

Bernice Marie “Bunny” Griffith graduated to Heaven November 18 at home with loved ones at her side. She was born September 9, 1940, to Bud and Donna Boller of Kooskia, Idaho. In her early years, she earned the nickname “Bunny” from her family, and it is the name she carried for life. Bunny was one of nine children. Her father, Bud, worked as a US Forest Service packer and trapper and taught his children to ride and love the outdoors. Her mother, Donna, was a registered nurse who passed on her knowledge and compassion to her children as well. At a Riggins Rodeo dance, Bunny met a freckled young cowboy who became the love of her life, her best friend, and helpmate of over 57 years. Val Griffith and Bunny were married June 9 of 1962 and were blessed with five children. While Bunny usually stayed home as a full time mom and farm wife, she worked hard and sometimes supplemented Val’s income by raising calves and milking a few dairy cows and selling milk to neighbors. She enjoyed working for a time at OR-IDA and especially enjoyed her years working as a waitress at the sale yard once a week. Together, Val and Bunny loved and raised their kids, registered quarter horses, and purebred Charolais cattle. Numerous neighborhood children blessed their lives through the years as well. Together they were 4-H leaders for many years, and later led a Cowboy Kids Youth Ministry with monthly dances raising money for excursions. Bunny spent thirty-five years of her life raising children in her home. Her whole life was devoted to serving those she loved. Bunny and Val have been blessed to be part of the church family at the Bible Baptist Church in Payette, Idaho for many years. Bunny is survived by her husband Val of Ontario, sisters Bev Taylor, Skip Roberts, and Ede Gordon of Kamiah, many beloved nephews and nieces, son Jim (Treese; Josh {Aubrey; Baylee, Megan, Brayden, Wyatt, Kambrey}, Jami Jo, Jaydee) of Fruitland, son Bart of Huntington, daughter Cassie Young (Bob: Roby and Caysen) of Vale, son Clay (Gatlin and Dallysue) of Ontario, and daughter Sarah Walker (Westi, Emmett, and Ivy) of Ontario. Bunny was very proud to have ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers David, Art, and Fred, and sisters Jean Schlieper and Jaime Griffith. Our lives have changed forever with our loss, but we rest in the promises of our Savior and rejoice knowing Bunny has run on ahead home. Hebrews 12:1 mentions the cloud of witnesses watching us each run our race. We have no doubt she will be cheering each of us on and eagerly awaiting our arrival. Memorial services will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Payette, Idaho on December 7 at 11:00 am MST. The family would love to celebrate Bunny’s life with friends and family at that time.
