Letter To The Editor – Cathy Kaech

The largest ever County Hearing happened this week on March 6th.

The subject was the proposed codechanges to Ag Buildings in Washington County.
There were over 200 people in attendance and 40+ testifying people who spoke to their concerns.

At one point it was asked who in the room was attending in support of the proposed changes and not one hand in the room went up. It was then asked who was in opposition of the proposed changes and all the room raised their hands. (there was a handful of people that didn’t want to raise their hands)

The testimony was exceptionally expressed and we pray that Washington County Commissioners, Washington County Planning and Zoning, and the Washington County Prosecutor will hear the people, their constituents.

Many people referred to their desire that we adopt the code that Idaho County has, which eliminates, this overreach problem that we have. We live in a community that is rich in Agriculture and populated by independent people. That is why we live here.

There was concerns over the violation penalties which include a misdemeanor charge upon conviction and offenders shall be fined not more that $300.00 or imprisoned for not more than 90 days or by both such fine and imprisonment. So, if by necessity a family is forced into a situation they might not choose, the property owner, can go to jail and be fined, if this goes through.

It is imperative that people stay vigilant, interested, and involved in our County business. Your kids will be affected and their lifestyle will change dramatically if you don’t.
Duty is Ours, Results are God’s. Quote by John Quincy Adams

Sincerely
Cathy Kaech,
Midvale, Idaho
