Letter To The Editor – Lily Rockwell

Can a minister wear two hats?
Can a minister serve two masters?
While viewing the commissioners meeting of March 21 st , 2022, I was frankly taken back by the attitude of two commissioners. Commissioner Marvin and one in particular Commissioner Haines, which brings me to comment on the subject: Can a minister serve two masters? Should a minister be in politics? Personally, I think not. When serving two masters you end up with hate for one. Body language was noticeable. As the meeting continued to County Codes or lack thereof, the attitude of Commissioner Haines toward Commissioner Chandler was offending and disconcerting. He accused Commission Chandler of ex-part. This accusation could be self directed. I do know that Commissioner Chandler faithfully follows the law, and the County Codes as written. Now, the codes are an attorney fantasy land, and the good old boy system. Commissioner Haines then went on to insinuate Commissioner Chandler e-mailed 10 of his friends to attend the Lancaster hearing. This I found absurd and to the point of mockery. I personally do not know a minister who would publicly display aspersions toward someone else. The issue here is that there is no common ground for a man who chooses to be a minister and a politician. Only one master can be served. When trying to serve two which one ends up hated? God is truth. Politics by nature are corrupt. They are like oil and water; they do not mix.
