Executive Director of Angel Wings Network, Inc, Mabel Dobbs, received a phone call from the owners of Mann Creek Country Store & Café just north of Weiser, Idaho. They expressed that they wanted to gift a pair of concert tickets to a cancer patient that could use them. On short notice, Dobbs asked them to give her an hour and she would see what she could do.
After thinking on it for a few minutes, Dobbs quickly thought of Doug and Marlene Knopp. Doug has been a cancer patient of Angel Wings Network, Inc since January of this year. He and his wife accepted the offer for two free tickets to the Jacksons Country Stomp at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater featuring Russell Dickerson with special guests Lauren Alaina, Elvie Shane, and Jackson Dean!
What made this so special was the fact that Doug and Marlene had never been to a concert before! This was their first experience in a large venue seeing country musicians live! They were also gifted a free dinner to make it an extra special night out on the town for just the two of them. This was a unique and uplifting experience for this couple who have been fighting through health problems, doctor’s appointments, cancer therapies, and a lot of stress. Opportunities like this do not come often, so this was exciting for Dobbs to be involved in making this happen.
A special thank you to the owners of the Mann Creek Country Store & Café for passing on a blessing! And folks can now come out to the store to eat once again! They are now open Wednesday’s, Thursday’s, and Friday’s from 12pm to 9pm. Please follow their Facebook page for the most up to date information on hours of operation.
