Margaret Jensen Running For Republican Precinct Chair In Weiser

My name is Margaret Jensen, and I am running for the Republican Precinct chair for Weiser, 04.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics with a minor in Plant Science, from UC Davis.  We moved to Weiser almost 30 years ago to follow my career in vegetable seed sales.  Currently I am the Executive Director of a non-profit Agribusiness Association, where I work on legislative issues regarding agriculture in a 5-state region.

My husband, John and I have been married 34 years and have raised 3 children in our community, all who have gone on to be college graduates, have remained true to their conservative, republican values and are all gainfully employed.  We both have served our community as volunteers in many different capacities over the years and run 3 businesses here in Weiser.

I have been a registered Republican for all my adult life, and have been a part of the Idaho GOP and Central Committee for over 25 years.  I have served in a couple capacities from State Committee Woman to my current role as Precinct Chair and Secretary of our Central Committee.  I chaired our Lincoln day dinner for 6 years and with an amazing committee, built that event to become the event to attend and meet our elected officials candidates running for office.

5 years ago, after attending a State GOP meeting, I met several women who were part of the Idaho State Federation of Republican Women.  Realizing that we did not have a group in Washington County, we assembled a small group of women and started the Washington County Federation of Republican Women (WCFRW), where I serve as President.  In 4 years, we have helped educate our community on political issues, candidates and given pocket constitutions to every graduating Senior in Washington County.  Under my direction, we have also started a scholarship fund for graduating seniors who are registered republicans.  I have organized classes for Enhanced Concealed Carry training, and we have certified over 300 people in our community on the legalities and safety of carrying a concealed gun and protecting our 2nd amendment rights.

This election cycle, I have been personally involved in scheduling over 30 local, state, and national Republican candidates to visit our community, allowing you, the voter to go to the polls informed! I have sent links through social media and emails to help you learn about how our legislative process works and how to follow important bills, including instruction on how access information on how our legislators are voting.

As a Precinct Chair, my number 1 responsibility is to maximize the Republican vote.  This is done by identifying candidates, informing the public on how these candidates stand on issues, making the community aware of important issues, and getting folks out to vote.  It is not my role to publicly take a position on candidates or bills, but to provide you opportunities to educate yourself, so you can make a good decision when you go to the polls.

I am running again for Precinct Chair because I care about the Republican Party, I want you, our voters to be as informed as possible when going to the polls and I want to make a difference.

Thank you.

Margaret Jensen
