Friday, February 10th the Weiser High VEX Robotics teams competed at their last competition of the season at Vale High School in Vale, Oregon. This was the last chance for teams to qualify for State with their Skills Scores. All eight teams were able to compete at Friday’s match, for some this was their first experience competing with their robot.
Five out of Weiser’s eight teams were invited to compete at state. Teams 9551A, 9551B, 9551C, 9551E and 9551F will pack their robots and head to Pocatello, Idaho to the Idaho State University campus on March 3rd to compete with other robots from around the state.
Jon Lundberg, both the VEX Robotics teacher and coach, shared his thoughts on this year’s challenges and growth, “This has been a good year for WHS Robotics. The class expanded to eight teams from six. This year’s game has been very difficult to design and build a robot that can do everything required to compete at a high level. So it has a big challenge for students to problem solve these obstacles, which is exactly where the best learning takes place. I have a bunch of great Wolverines working hard trying to do great things.”
