Dorothy Evans with the Weiser Lions Club approached one of the Girl Scout Leaders in Weiser about possibly making a donation to their service unit. As many people know, the Lions Club have been faithful supporters of the Scout House and the Boy Scouts of America for a long time. Evans had noticed recent social media activity about the new Girl Scout troops in Weiser and she thought it would be a great idea to offer some support.
In mid-January, Evans announced that the Lions Club had their board meeting and approved the budget for 2022. “The Lions are happy to donate money to the Girl Scouts,” she shared. The Lions Club participate in a variety of service projects and donation campaigns each year. Members of the club encourage service to their community in a way that fosters friendships, good citizenship, and public interest in service projects.
On behalf of the service unit, Brownie Leader Kayla McFetridge, accepted the donation which will be shared with the Daisy Troop as well. Currently, there are two Girl Scout Troops in Weiser. Both troops will benefit from the generous donation. All of the Girl Scouts are currently working on earning badges and fun patches at their weekly meetings. As they anticipate the weather warming up in the spring, they will be able to get out and do more. With the donation, the girls will have more opportunities to learn, grow, earn badges, and serve the community in a variety of ways.
Thank you, Weiser Lions Club, for your support and generosity toward youth programs in Weiser like the Girl Scouts!
