Weiser Memorial Hospital Announces the First Recipient of the Syringa Award for Extraordinary Nurses!

By Kasey Davis – Manager Marketing & Community Relations

Weiser Memorial Hospital is proud to announce Joe Young as the 2023 recipient of the Syringa Award for Extraordinary Nurses! Joe was nominated for being a living example of our mission statement: “saving lives, improving health, and building community”.

Joe has been recognized by his peers, the patients, and the community in general as someone who puts his whole heart into everything he does. He is active in the Weiser community, can capture attention with his knowledge and wit (on any subject), and is someone everyone wants to work with.

“He doesn’t want recognition.” Says Emergency Department Nurse Manager, Scott Conklin, “he would say he is just doing his job, caring for people.”

Those at Weiser Memorial Hospital know he will treat them with respect and kindness. Joe strives to work in such a way that his patients feel relaxed, well cared for, and calm by his presence.

The Syringa Award for Extraordinary Nurses was developed this year by leaders at Weiser Memorial Hospital. Its goal is to recognize nursing staff who embody WMH’s values of integrity, compassion, and excellence. Nurses can be recognized for their exceptional work through surveys, comment cards, or by calling the hospital at 208-549-0370.
