Weiser Memorial Hospital (WMH) staff are excited to announce that they are the recipients of the Southwest District Health/Ida-Ore Mother-Friendly Worksite Award. At an awards ceremony held on Friday, August 5th, at Southwest District Health Offices in Caldwell, Maureen Raleigh, RNC BSN and Manager of the hospital’s Medical, Obstetrics, and Surgical departments, accepted the award on behalf of the hospital.
Weiser Memorial Hospital’s Mother-Friendly workplace includes a lactation room, that is designed to meet the needs of employees and community members who need to nurse or pump milk for their infant. A special refrigerator along with all essential supplies, are available for use and are free of charge. The room is always well stocked, clean, and provides a relaxed atmosphere.
“WMH’s staff and senior leadership have done a wonderful job of adopting policies that support the implementation and sustainability of the hospital’s lactation support program,” Raleigh shared during the award presentation. “Our goal was to provide a clean and private place, for not only our staff that may be breast feeding, but also for use by community members who are there visiting patients or waiting for family or friends.”
August 8th begins World Breast Feeding Week, recognizing the benefits of breastfeeding and shedding light on the many improvements being implemented by businesses world-wide.
