Monday, March 13th at the monthly Weiser City Council meeting Laurel Adams along with other Mud Drag Members and the director of the Weiser Chamber of Commerce presented a check for $4,310.84 to Weiser Mayor Randy Hibberd for the city firework fund that allows the city to purchase fireworks for the 4th of July and the lighting of the city’s Christmas Tree.
Adams shared, “Three weeks before our 2022 event, we revamped our committee and had to start all over again from scratch. We were left with no records on sponsorships, vendors, etc. We dug in. We got busy. We worked hard to get sponsors. We marketed our race everywhere we could think of. Found vendors. Designed trophies. We were determined to make that race the best ever.” They succeeded. The Weiser Mud Drags was able to put on their 2022 event with an amazing turn out of drivers and spectators. Adams shared that they had wonderful feedback on the event and even made some money.
With the success of the event the committee got together to discuss where the money should go, “There are so many worthwhile nonprofits that were brought up – this community is amazing – but when the fireworks came up it was a no brainer. We voted unanimously as a Committee to support them.” Adams continued stating, “We have appreciated the City’s generosity in allowing us to use our venue for nearly 20 years and, overwhelmingly, our Committee wanted to give back. We are so proud to present this check for $4310.84 to the City of Weiser.”
