Weiser School District Requesting A Vote On A Revised Plant And Facility Levy

March 23, 2023
Dear Parents and Patrons,

On March 14th the Weiser School District asked patrons to consider a $500,000 four year Plant and Facility Levy for the WSD. The levy would have been used to address necessary maintenance and improvements for schools and grounds within the District. The election fell short of the total votes needed for approval by 1.99 %.

The Board of Trustees met on Monday, March 20th to consider District circumstances and discuss potential next steps.

After significant discussion, the Board voted to seek another election and to ask patrons to consider a revised Plant and Facility Levy in May. The newly proposed levy asks consideration for $310,000 per year for four years. The proposed levy would replace the current $310,000 eight-year Plant and Facility Levy that is set to expire on June 30, 2023. The proposed levy is expected to maintain a tax rate similar to the expiring levy, which is approximately $36.85 per $100,000 of taxable property value.

The election will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Updated information will be placed on the District website at www.weiserschools.org as it is made available.

Thank you for your continued support and consideration.
Respectfully,
Wade Wilson, Superintendent
