Weiser’s Carter Williams Signs Letter of Intent to Attend School and Play Golf for Utah Tech University

Wednesday, April 12th Weiser High Senior, Carter Williams, signed his letter of intent to play golf and attend school at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah.

Williams has played golf since he was about nine years old and started playing competitively when he was eleven through the Idaho Junior Golf Association. “I started with little nine hole events and it sorta grew from there and I started traveling the country.”  Williams shared a story of when he first found his love of the game. “I had a cousin in high school, Brooks Boyer, she took me out and I just knew right then that this is what I wanted to do. I went right home and bought a set of five clubs for a hundred dollars and the rest is history. I have practiced ninety percent of all days since then.”

Williams was offered a full ride scholarship for both academics and to play golf for Utah Tech. He shared his thoughts on attending the university, “The location is great and the coach is awesome. I think it’s going to be a place where I can really improve my golf game. That’s what’s most important to me.” Williams plans to get a degree in Business Administration and Management while attending Utah Tech, but the dream is to play golf professionally. “My ultimate goal is that I want to win a Major, Master especially, but any Majors. I just want to leave an impact on the game of golf.”

Before signing his letter Williams shared his appreciation for his parents, grandparents and coaches and then stated, “I would like to thank pretty much everyone here. Without you guys none of this would be possible. The support and love from Weiser is awesome.”
