With new seasons comes new sports at Weiser Middle School. When spring arrives, the spring sports are available for all students who would like to join. Mrs. Weldon and Mr. Rose are the coaches, and they will help provide fun experiences.
Tennis, coached by Mrs. Weldon, will be a fun sport in my opinion because we will actually do it this year. Last year, due to the Covid outburst, school went online before the spring sports could begin. But, that was in the past and we must look ahead to the future. When asked what she thought about tennis not being able to happen last year, Mrs. Weldon said, “It was tragic to not have a tennis season, so this year we are going to work extra hard to make up for a lost season!” Tennis will be available to all three grades, whereas track is only available to 7th and 8th grades.
Track, coached by Mr. Rose, is going to be just as fun as tennis, but unfortunately, the students can only choose one spring sport because their meets are around the same time. With the same turn of events last year, track was not able to happen. But, with safety rules put in place, students will be able to participate in track. When asked what he thought about track not being able to happen last year, Mr. Rose said, “Not having a track season for the middle school was understandable considering we knew very little about COVID-19, and I would rather lose a season to protect our community”.
Students are all excited to participate in spring sports this year. Since Covid is dying down, we will all be able to enjoy it.
